Christmas Markets?

Hey there, just a question for the Swisstory readers.

Which Christmas markets are particularly good around here? Which ones should I definately not miss?

I am planning some trips and events around Christmas time and wanted to get some feedback. Thanks in advance for your help!

Head to Germany. The one in the Zurich HB is OK in a pinch, but lacks the charm of an outdoor market. Personally I prefer the not-so-famous ones... for example the one in Baden Baden is much cuter than the overcrowded one in neighboring Strasbourg, in my opinion. Dresden and Berlin are some of my favorite big-city markets.

Let me know what happens with the Zurich Bahnhofstrasse Christmas lights this year! I blogged about the horrid reaction to them in past years, but this year they are supposedly changing them...

Hi Jessica,
This is our first Christmas season here too so I don't have any first hand experience, but I ran across this list of Swiss Christmas Markets: http://www.linker.ch/eigenlink/weihnachtsmarkt.htm
Happy planning!

If you want to spend several hours on the train, the Christmas market in Leipzig, Germany is pretty awesome.

How is the market in Stuttgart? We are planning on going there as it's only 3 hr train ride from Zurich.

To make it a dav event I would go to the Christmas market in Einsedeln. It's very cute, at least it was a few years ago. Have fun!
